This Insane Workout Plan

Ok, so I started the Insanity workout and it really is that insane. I was given the entire program ($150 back in my pocket) and it has been tough. I skipped one day after the initial fitness test which was super weak on my part. However, I feel stronger every day.

After a wakeup call last night and realizing I ate poorly the entire weekend, I started today in a better way. (Be proud of me though, I worked out hung over on Saturday!) I know that dieting is the most important part of weight loss and I am excited to see where this journey takes me. I am excited to see results, but I won't see them unless I workout AND diet properly. I made a lot of excuses to eat junk during grad school so now I don't have much in the way of excuses.

I also gave up diet coke last week (wish me luck on that!) I am already feeling much healthier. I am going to post updates weekly and let you know how it all goes. When I am done, I am going to post final stats as well. If anyone has any thoughts or diet tips let me know!

Post Holiday Blues and the Great Rainstorm of 2010

The life of a law student is very interesting. One would think that a law student would be excited and happy once finals are over. However, over the last week I have noticed a slight "emo" state setting in. I am so busy on a constant basis that now with finals over, I feel like I need to be constantly doing one thing or another. That lasted for the first few days of break.

Then came "the great rain storm of 2010" (rain is very stressful to California natives) which kept me inside watching former episodes of Gossip Girl. Since I had not been to the grocery store during finals, I had to resort to going to every fast food restaurant known to man. I did this to avoid the whole grocery store process of going in, loading the car and unloading at home. This would have been a difficult process for me since I don't enjoy the rain. I went to McDonald's, KFC, and Del Taco several times in four days. Yes, I said KFC.

Once the rain stopped, I am now eating healthier and have been to the gym every day. I feel so dirty after having KFC. Don't judge me - every bite was really good.

I've noticed after going through my bout with "seasonal depression" that the gym and indoor tanning helped. Yes, another thing that I am not proud of. I was not tanning to become more cougar-like; but instead, I was trying to get my daily requisite of Vitamin D.

My Mom is now visiting and that has uplifted my spirits. We have been pretty lazy. I thought I was lazy until I came home today and she watched Harold and Kumar's White castle movie followed by the Guantanamo Bay II movie. I will judge her for that.

Merry Christmas everyone. Please have an awesome day!

Are we over stimulated?

I'm not really sure if we are still in the "technology age" but I feel like everyday is a constant grind with 1,000 modes of communication. I have a myspace account, facebook account, iPhone, twitter, text messaging capabilities, e-mail (3 accounts and running) and I have a house phone. Yes, I have a house phone. Don't you miss having one?

Anyway, I feel like I can't even go to the beach without feeling panic if I haven't checked my facebook account. On more than one occasion, I have been driving somewhere and I have turned around to get my cell phone from the house. Do people actually get angry with you if you do not respond to a text message within 30 minutes? I have.

I think that since we have more ways of communicating with one another, it actually tends to hinder our friendships with others. Since we have all of these methods of communication, it makes people very lazy. I harken back to simpler times (a great beer at Trader Joe's...) when we had home phones, call waiting and answering machines. In the past, people checked their messages! People waited for phone calls! And people even committed to plans and showed up for things. In today's society, it is common for people to call or text 5 minutes prior to the planned event and not show up.

I do not believe there is a remedy to this, but all I can say is check your messages and communicate! And, when you are at an event with a friend or out to dinner, put the crackberry or the iPhone down.

My Journey Through Law School

Ok! So since I am pretty much missing in action now that school has started in my second year, I decided to create a blog. I will post updates on the day-to-date along with things that I find humorous. I hope you all enjoy! :)

Talk to you all soon - Kelly
